I had a difference in final numbers only in the 0-10 range in psi. Here are my numbers if someone could tell me if they are correct or too high or what are the correct psi . I think The compression just tests to see if there are no leaks in your piston rings and valve train so unless it bored out it should be the same. 08' TSX. 98' Integra LS Previously .

I'll perform a compression test on my 4.3 V6 CSFI equipped S10, and want to know whats the ideal compression reading. I'll use the compression tester that you screw the gauge on the spark plug hole. Thanks . GSR cams are great for a stock compression LS block. ITR/CTR cams are also a great upgrade if you can get them for cheap. I believe it's necessary to run AT LEAST ITR dual . One of the easiest ways to check your engine’s health is by performing a compression test. This measures each cylinder’s ability to create pressure. In this video . 5. Attach the compression gauge to a spark plug hole. 6. Open the throttle fully, crank the engine with the starter motor and measure the compression. Compression Pressure: Above 930 kPa (9.5 kgf/cm , 135 psi) 7. Measure the compression on the remaining cylinders. Maximum Variation: Within 200 kPa (2.0 kgf/cm , 28 psi) 8.

Boosted ls/vtec ohh yeah! Jul 26, 2008 #2 I looked in my hayne's repair manual and it said for the 2000 civic si that standard compression should be around 184 psi. I would double check that with a factory . The B18C1 engine features a DOHC VTEC design and has a compression ratio of 10.0:1, making it a popular choice for enthusiasts looking for a powerful and reliable engine for their vehicles. The engine has a bore size of 81 mm and a stroke length of 87.2 mm, with a rod length of 137.9 mm and a rod to stroke ratio of 1.60. i am in the midst of putting together my ls-vtec motor as we speak. b16 head stock b18b block p30 pistons arp head studs arp rod bolts golden eagle lsvtec conversion kit chipped p28 ecu . hone the cylinder walls because the block is being used in my current car and i don't have any problems with it and the compression test checked out.

Testing the engine compression on your Chevrolet or GMC 4.8L, 5.0L, or 6.0L engine is not hard to do. A compression test will help you to determine the health of your engine by measuring the pressure of the air that gets compressed by the .
Last but not least, the spark plug and spark plug wires. If you are using the stock LS pistons, use stock B16 spark plugs. If you are running compression in the 10.8-12.0 range go with one stage colder spark plug (NGK BKR7E). If you are running over 12.0:1 compression as I am, run the two stages colder NGK's (#7173, pictured below). then build it right. but it's not really that unique. but it's your car. you do with it what you please. just letting you know you're going to be paying a chunk of change just to be unique. like was stated earlier you have to put actual work into it. don't slap that head on there and think your motor is going to be susbtantially faster. truth be told the real reasons the vtec powered .

What is a safe compression ratio to run in an lsvtec?
Screw the added complexity of VTEC Just get a bone stock b18b in good shape, run a leakdown and compression test. If it is alright then boost that bad boy. You can make up to around 300whp before the stock sleeves give, number of pounds depends on the CFM of air your turbo is pushing. Trust me, forget LS/VTEC unless you are intending to go all out. Engine Compression Test Charge the battery if the battery is not fully charged. Disable the ignition system. Disable the fuel injection system. Remove all the spark plugs. Block the throttle plate wide open. Start with the compression gage at zero, and crank the engine through 4 compression strokes, 4 puffs. **IMPORTANT** The B16a timing belt will NOT WORK with an LS/VTEC setup. I've tried myself on my own setup and it WONT WORK. The B16 block is physically 8mm shorter than the B18a/B18b block resulting in the inability to use the B16 timing belt in an LS/VTEC setup. Dont waste your time and money with this belt for it simply wont work. -ECU Choiices

Just because you don't have VTEC doesn't mean you can't romp on others who do. In fact, the LS motor is a very good starting point for building a good-power, streetable motor. Let's take it in 2 steps- head and block. The LS Head As we all know, the LS head has horrible flow ratings in comparison to a VTEC head. result is higher then first test, it means rings are leaking. Do test on all cyls and compare to first reading. Usually means bad rings if compression rises after adding oil, but I did tear down an engine once, that whoever had worked on it had installed all the ring gaps in a straight line, thus loosing compression and oil.BLOX Racing high compression standard size valves are forged from EV8 stainless steel. Each valve then undergoes a heat treatment process to increase strength then coated using black nitride to provide superior wear resistance and minimize power-robbing friction. BLOX Racing valves are specially designed to increase intake and exhaust airflow through the cylinder .A compression test is simple to learn and only requires a few basic tools. From a mechanical perspective, you will need to know how to properly remove the spark plugs on the vehicle or equipment you are testing and properly disable the ignition system and fuel system, the latter if the vehicle is fuel injected. For carbureted engines, you can choose to disable the fuel supply .
you will need a compression check to make sure your fine befor you think of anything big. even if you don't want to spend alot of money you can buy slightly used turbo setups for around 00 with decent equipment. also you can find build blocks for around 00. so for 00 you can have a car with around 400whp assuming you know what too look for in used .
ok so all b series vtec engines are premium fuel only engines ie 92 octane and i can remember correctly in my rebuild book the gsr and type R have a stock cylinder pressure of 210 or 240 so your 180 and 185 i wouldnt worry about, but your 130 cold be cause for concern and i do know that sometimes honda oe pistons in the gsr's were bad about breaking ring landings . One of the easiest ways to check your engine’s health is by performing a compression test. This measures each cylinder’s ability to create pressure. . I'd suggest keeping the ls block and doing a high compression ls/vtec.. to be honest.. you would really rev a ls/vtec just as high as a gsr..and you keep realible.. if u dont plan on sleeving a b20..u lose alot of "self insurence" because the sleeves are already paper thin and reving a motor high will crack them.. ls/vtec would be the more .
